Paint Factory Sprinkler Activation Wolverhampton

29 October 2021

  • Date of Incident; 29 October 2021
  • Location; Heath Town
  • Industrial/warehouse unit
  • FRS; West Midlands Fire service (WMFS)
  • Activation, commercial sprinkler system

WMFS, reported that 8 fire appliances including an aerial platform attended a fire in the roof space of an ink (paint) industrial unit involving 42 firefighters.

Argus fire protection reported, the commercial sprinkler system activated extinguishing the fire in the area it protected.  The benefit of which allowed WMFS to deal with the unprotected part of the building which sustained fire damage.

Business continuity is key, this incident clearly demonstrates the benefits of sprinklers. You must ask yourself would the outcome of been different for this business, if sprinklers protected the whole building?

Following any fire, you must ask yourself what the financial impact of the lost building is, its contents, the business disruption and jobs and the cost to the environment. Specifically in the light of the recent climate meeting in Glasgow.

your attention is drawn to the article by Tom Roche Secretary of the business sprinkler alliance, “when a building burns down what is the cost to the environment”
