Essex Superstore Sprinkler Save
On the 7 August at 4.51am, Essex Fire & Rescue Service were called to a fire at a large supermarket store in Waltham Abbey. The commercial sprinkler system activated suppressing a fire in one of the rooms within the store.
BAFSA comment : Automatic fire sprinklers will control the spread of a fire and protect businesses and families from the physical and psychological effects of a fire as well as the practical disruption of lives in small communities
Part B of the building regulations requires the installation of sprinklers under certain circumstances, such as new residential blocks of more than 11m in height and uncompartmented areas of shops or self storage buildings of more than 2000 square metres.
